In the early 1900s, Miranda (Ann Lambert) visited a girls’ boarding school in Australia. One day on Valentine’s Day, usually the strict headmistress of the school (Rachel Roberts) treats the girls on a picnic excursion to an unusual but picturesque volcanic formation called Hanging Rock. Despite the rules against this, Miranda and several other girls withdraw. It was not until the end of the day that the faculty realized the girls and one of the teachers (Vivian Gray) disappeared mysteriously.
